ARCH1101 Lecture Test, FINAL DAY!

Hi All,

It's the last day to complete the ARCH1101 lecture test.

Congratulations to all those that have passed (the vast majority of you) and there is still time for the few who have less than 16 out of 20 or who haven't yet attempted it.

Cheers

ARCH1101 Test

Hi All,

The lecture test has been live for a week now ... and it looks like most of you have successfully passed it. Congratulations!

Special mention goes out to:

Dominic Bailey
Karin Ching
Jeremy Curtin
Zachary Karantonis
Kamrunnahar Khandaker
Shelden Kristie
Paul Salvarinas
Tanny Tan
Andrew Wu
Lillian Xiao

Who all got 20 out of 20.

There are still a few who are sitting on grades below 16, which will result in failing the test and the course.

As a reminder, to get 80% and pass, you'll need a minimum of 16 in the test.

There are also about 20 students who haven't attempted it yet ... if that's you, or if you know someone who hasn't passed it yet remind them that it's critical and there will be no exceptions. access is through MyUNSW.

Cheers

Running The City: Flash Run

Hi Guys,

I mentioned this in the final lecture, the Flash Run (Sydney CBD, Monday 10th of June at 10am).

The first 250 participants get a free T-Shirt and everyone gets to be immortalized in an art work.

EXP3 Extension for Engineering with Architecture Students

Hello All,

As noted in the student rep meeting a couple of weeks ago the Engineering with Architecture Students have an exam the day before the EXP3 submission.

After speaking with the staff in the faculty student center I can confirm an extension for those students; the new submission date for the Engineering with Architecture students is Saturday 29th of June, by 9pm (this gives those students the same amount of time between their exam and the submission as the BAS students have between their Environments exam and the current submission date).

Cheers

Hi All,

You might have already seen the poster below ... this is a student run initiative that would give you a great head start to physical modeling; I'd encourage you to give it a go.

It's on today!

Student Rep Meeting

Hi All,

As you know I met with the ARCH1101 student reps on Tuesday. We had a fruitful discussion, my notes and follow up actions are detailed below;

1. The Engineering with Architecture students have a exams on the 18th and the 24th of June. As the final submission for ARCH1101 is on the 25th of June they have requested an extension. I'll talk with the student center to see what kind of extension we can give.

2. The Architecture students have an Environments exam on the 20th. see above.

3. There was a request to include more captions in the lectures ... which I'll do.

4. There was also a request to record the lecture ... which I'm sure can be done through Lectopia, I'll look into this.

5. There was some interest in getting access to additional vegetation types to make your landscapes more specific. I'll put some links to vegetation packages up on the forum.

6. There was some interest in a voxel tutorial (to show how to make caves and overhangs etc). Hélder Pinto has covered this in the online videos here: http://unsw.kanopystreaming.com/node/68451 the video is called "Your First Level Creating and Detailing a Cave" ... it's the 11th video clip from the left. I'll create a short version before next weeks class.

7. There was a bit of discussion regarding an end of session party for ARCH1101 students and their friends. Things to consider are venue, date, theme (we had some suggestions ...Barn Animals, Dress as your Favorite Architect, an Op Shop Ball). Take a look at the ARCH1101 facebook page if you'd like to make a suggestion or see what people are thinking.

I think that was everything, leave comments below if I've missed something.

Cheers
